Greenhouse
Floor Plan In the eastern-most bay will by a 36 x 96 hydroponic lettuce production unit using NFT,
the Nutrient Film Technique. This
method of growing is popular worldwide because of its efficiency and high
production rates. The plants
are grown in channels in which a thin film of nutrient solution
continuously flows. This
system can produce as many as 1500 heads of lettuce/week. The space just north of the NFT lettuce system will be used for seed germination and plant propagation. Specially designed tables will provide the proper moisture, temperature and air circulation to the germinating seeds. Once at the seedling stage, the small plants will be transplanted into the appropriate culture system. |
